Exploring Artifacts

Today we joined forces with 6W to become historians.  We looked at a range of artifacts from World War II.  We tried things on and tried to imagine how they were used and who would have used them.  The children then made sketches of the artifacts to help us explore the detail, so that we can become more familiar with them.  The children were really enthusiastic and have begun to bring in their own photographs and memorabilia.

Some Important Changes in Britain Since 1939!!!

Today we researched a variety of changes that have happened to our world since the beginning of WWII.

Some of us researched the changes in population and its affects on the world.
Some groups looked at the way transport has changed.
Even the way we lived was scrutinised and we found out a great deal about how even housing has changed!

Communications have changed a great deal - just look at this Blog - within minutes of doing the work you can see it! We looked at how radio has changed.
How we use TV has changed dramatically - you should have seen some of the TV's we looked at - the backs and sides were made of wood!!! Some of our TV's now are 3D, Internet ready, Cinema style pieces of kit.

Below you will see how we have represented the changes in communications using modern technology. We hope you find it informative...

Trick Poems - Can you spot the trick?

Can anybody figure out the trick in this poem? Mr Logue's group have been looking at different types of poems and exploring how powerful the images are that we get from them.

I Saw a Peacock, with a fiery tail,
I saw a Blazing Comet, drop down hail,
I saw a Cloud, with Ivy circled round,
I saw a sturdy Oak, creep on the ground,
I saw an ant, swallow up a Whale,
I saw a raging Sea, brim full of Ale,
I saw a Venice Glass, Sixteen foot deep,
I saw a well, full of mens tears that weep,
I saw their eyes, all in a flame of fire,
I saw a House, as big as the Moon and higher,
I saw the Sun, even in the midst of night,
I saw the man, that saw this wondrous sight.

Leave a comment telling us what you think the trick to this poem is!!

Welcome to Blogging

This is the first time I've ever Blogged and it is just amazing!

We will be able to find some great information on the internet and share it with each other and the world.

I may even be able to set your homework on here - how good will that be?

But you MUST add comments to YOUR blog...

Happy Blogging,

Mrs Lynch.

Here's a look at what some of last years Y6 did during Black History Month.

Can you think of anything that would be of interest to us?
